Irish Moss - 1 lb
Irish moss is an edible seaweed that grows along the rocky Atlantic coasts of Europe and North America and has been used as a brewing additive for over 300 years. Irish moss contain a high percentage of carrageenan which is key to clarify beer during the boil. Carrageenan has a negative electrostatic charge and when combined with the positive charge of proteins in the boil facilitates clumping and the likelihood of those larger clumps dropping out during the cooling phase. Irish Moss is also known to reduce chill haze in finished beer.
Add 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons with 10 - 15 minutes left in boil
